Safety

Safety isn't a section — it's how we operate.

Every member is responsible for the safe handling of firearms on and off the range. Standing orders are simple, well-known and strictly enforced.

The four rules

Universal firearm safety rules

Every safety system — civilian, sporting, military — starts here.

Rule 1

Treat every firearm as loaded

Always. No exceptions. Verify clear personally.

Rule 2

Never point at anything you're not willing to destroy

Muzzle discipline at all times — on the line, in the bay, in the safe area.

Rule 3

Finger off the trigger until on target

Trigger-finger straight along the frame until your sights are on the target and you've made a conscious decision to fire.

Rule 4

Know your target and what's beyond it

Identify the target, the backstop and the surroundings before pressing the trigger.
